Weekend on Otter Tail Lake

In August, we spent a weekend at the Travers' lake place and had a blast! Boating, tubing, fishing, swimming, water balloon fight, smores and the popular tree swing were so much fun! Thanks for inviting us up!

The Birthday Girls!

Besides being best friends, Emily and Natalie have birthday's very close to each other. Here are some photos of both of the girl's bday parties:

More summer photos

Hosting National Night Out, once again, was successful. The neighborhood kids loved playing at the park and looking at the police car and fire trucks!

Jenny used her carpentry skills and installed new blinds in the girl's bedrooms, Tad installed a new door in our bedroom (the 1st of 8) and we discovered Ana LOVES to play w/ hammers, nails, screwdrivers, etc.! Just give her a 2x4 and she's busy for at least an hour.

Dess up photos and Ana's new favorite sport, tennis!!

OK, and here are the misc. cute/funny kid photos:

August 08

The summer has been busy...although it's been 'fun' busy. Here are a few photos of summer.

1) Morning rainbow in our backyard.

2) Emily at daycamp at our church-she LOVED singing all the camp songs!

3) We went downtown Mpls to dinner, then to Jenny's work to watch fireworks on the building's rooftop! Emily swinging on the swing on one of our floors.

4) Emily's BFF Natalie's birthday party

Aquatennial

This past weekend Emily, Ana, Nana and I went to Lake Calhoun for the Milk Carton Boat Races and the Sand Sculpture competition. It was hot, and Ana & I were not feeling all that great, but we stayed for a little while, ate some cold ice cream and sat in the shade. It was a fun day! Here are some photos of our fun day!

Kysa

Here are 2 new pictures of Kysa. She has more than doubled her weight and is a SMART little puppy! I just wish she'd smile, though...

SOCCER!!

I think we've found the sport for Ana! She loves SOCCER and even though this was her first time playing any sort of organized sport (disorganized) she had a fun time.
The only thing (and this was a BIG thing for her) that she absolutely hated, was the fact that her uniform was WAY TOO BIG!! After many tears and fits, I got it on her and she'd look in the mirror and say, "this does NOT look pretty on me!" Honestly, the tee came down to her knees and the shorts came down almost to her ankles and the black wool socks went up to her thighs. What are these people thinking?!? 4yr olds do not wear the same size as 10 yr olds!! But after some minor adjustments, it fit better.
Anyways, after 6 wonderful and fun weeks, tonight it came to an end. Oh wait, let me tell you Ana did NOT like the game "Shark vs. Fish". Let me explain. The coaches (sharks) line up across the field from all the kids (fishes). The 'sharks' try to steal the ball away from the 'fishes'. They did this many times, going back and forth across the lines until only a few 'fishes' were left. Ana was really good at dribbling the ball and keeping it close to her as to not get it taken away by the 'sharks'. BUT...here's the sad part...and this only happened 2 times....the shark TOOK ANA'S SOCCER BALL and you know what?....she CRIED!!! She stood there in the middle of the field in a pile of tears! Tad & I felt a little sad, but we just had to laugh inside our hearts cause that's the game of life, isn't it. She was a good sport though, wiped her tears away, drank some water and she ran back out onto the field. Way to go Ana! Next time you take on those sharks and you fight your way through the sea of sharks!!! hahaha! :-)

All the kids got these beautiful gold medals! She wore it very proudly and she's bringing it to daycare tomorrow to show all the kids. At the end, we always get a treat and play at the adjacent park. Here she is relaxing. Until next session......

Ana and Emily just waking up and sitting together in the chair with their favorite quilt that Nana made for them! :-)

I often find them sitting close to each other and I love seeing that!

Emily with her new golf clubs! She is so proud of them! I hope we continue to take the time to practice with her!
